Program Information
Village University isn’t easy—but it’s real. It’s for families tired of running in place and ready to rebuild on purpose. You don’t have to be perfect—but you do have to participate. It is all about momentum.
A Flexible Program Timeline (Up to 4 Years)
Originally designed as an 18-month transition, we found it simply wasn’t enough time for most families. VU now offers a graduated path of up to four years, depending on each family’s needs. Some will move faster. Others need a longer runway. All deserve a launch that’s sustainable.
The Three-Phase Model
- Phase 1 – Stabilize (Months 0–3):
- Move in and orient to community rhythms
- Begin early workshops and build trust
- Create a personalized development plan
- Start financial literacy and foundational routines
- Phase 2 – Grow (Months 4–18+):
- Attend rotating workshops aligned with personal goals
- Participate in check-ins, coaching, and peer support
- Contribute to community upkeep and events
- Refine financial, parenting, wellness, and housing strategies
- Phase 3 – Launch (Months 19–48):
- Deepen leadership and community roles
- Finalize income, housing, and resource plans
- Complete graduation readiness
- Access Launch Fund and transition supports
Curriculum Modules (Rotating & Participant-Led)
Each family joins the curriculum loop where they are. Modules repeat regularly—so no one misses out. They reflect, re-engage, and grow at their own pace. Everyone begins with an Intro & Assessment module before joining the loop.
Module | Theme | Description |
Intro & Assessment | Financial Literacy & Individual Needs | “Money mindset, survival budgeting, and identifying personal growth areas” |
1. Tenancy & Employment Readiness (Jan–Feb) | Getting & Keeping What You’ve Earned | “Understand leases, workplace expectations, and communication with landlords or employers” |
2. Communication & Conflict Resolution (Mar–Apr) | Self-Expression & Peacebuilding | “Use assertive language, navigate feedback, and manage conflict at home or work” |
3. Life & Time Management (May–Jun) | Routines That Stick | “Build effective time-blocking, chore systems, and chaos management strategies” |
4. Health, Nutrition & Self-Care (Jul–Aug) | Whole-Person Wellness | “Focus on mental health, meal planning, fitness, and sustainable self-care” |
5. Navigating Community Resources (Sep–Oct) | Support Beyond Our Walls | “Learn to access healthcare, transit, legal aid, and advocacy tools” |
6. Community Engagement & Giving Back (Nov–Dec) | Confidence Through Contribution | “Lead service projects and define what it means to belong and uplift others” |
Program Fees
VU is not rent-based—it’s contribution-based. There is no expected contribution at initial enrollment and fees scale with income. Every dollar is reinvested into the program. Non-payment won’t disqualify participants but will prompt honest dialogue about engagement and support.
