More Than a House, It's a Home

About THV

Tiny House Village is a unique initiative born from a partnership between the Oshkosh Kids Foundation and the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development. We provide a safe place for families with children who are waiting for affordable housing to become available.

Our Mission & Values

We exist to equip families in Oshkosh with the tools, relationships, and routines needed to escape homelessness permanently.

We Believe:

  • Stability grows from structure
  • Healing happens in community
  • Change requires support and responsibility

Core Values:

  • Dignity: Every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported without shame.
  • Accountability: Progress is earned; structure isn’t punishment—it’s partnership.
  • Compassion: Growth takes courage; setbacks require understanding.
  • Individuality: No two journeys look the same.
  • Honesty: Truth-telling creates trust and unlocks change.

Progress over Perfection: Showing up matters more than showing off.

Why We Stepped Away from Government Funding

Village University was originally funded through government programs, but these systems required us to prioritize vulnerability over readiness and follow rules that did not align with our mission. The strings attached prohibited us from operating the program that was initially designed. We couldn’t prioritize Oshkosh-based families, reward effort, or tailor support to each family’s pace.

So, we let it go.

VU is now powered by community partnerships, local investments, and scalable models. This allows us to offer earned incentives, tailor services to Oshkosh families, and provide a trauma-informed culture that fits our local needs.
